Speaking of writing we have started making lists and trying really hard to hear the first sound in a word. Today's list was titled, Things That are Red. Most things listed related to fire. Maybe that's because of fire safety week last week?!?
Word work has us focusing on clapping, catching and counting syllables in words, along with focusing on our kindergarten quick words. So far we have learned: I, see, a, like, can, you. I will be attaching a list of these words to our newsletter this week.
Partner games has been a fun way to learn our numbers 0-10, along with fun poems that remind us how to form our numbers. We have also been looking at all the different ways we can represent a number (numeral, word, fingers, tally mark, objects, domino, dice, number sentence and ten frames).
Whew, finally during unit time we have been exploring the life cycle of a pumpkin. I promised the kids we would also paint a pumpkin and trust me they have reminded me everyday that we haven't painted one yet! Hopefully tomorrow we will get to that. Next week I look forward to exploring the insides of a pumpkin with them and doing some investigation work.
Hope that brings everyone up to speed about what has been going on in our classroom. Reminder that Friday is an early release. Students leave the school at 12:25 that day! Have a great evening :)
